Gen Y – surviving an economic downturn

17 November 2008

Generation Y has had the luxury of never having experienced a recession. ‘Used to unbroken prosperity and job security during their careers. Now the business climate is chilling. Talk around the office has changed from bonuses and profit sharing to salary freezes and layoffs’. (Silverthorne, BNET, 2008)

Below is some key advice for Gen Ys experiencing a few economic business chills –

  • Become tougher mentally
  • Bring your ‘A’ game to work each day
  • Cut personal debt, save more
  • Be positive and focused at work — shine by example

(Chester, Generation Why, 2008)
