My client is looking for an energetic and self-motivated person to take on the role of Environmental Management System (EMS) Coordinator. The position is currently being offered as a 3 month contract at the APS6 level.  The successful candidate will have a chance to prove themselves in the role and the position may be advertised for permanent filling.

This exciting role will give you the opportunity to manage the department's EMS - a system designed to help the department improve its environmental performance and reduce its environmental impact.  The duties will include:

• Conducting audits of and reporting on the EMS and Environmental Action Plan (EAP)
• Reporting quarterly to the Environmental Management Committee (EMC)
• Managing internal and external stakeholder liaison in relation to the EMS
• Assisting with the development and delivery of the internal communications plan and engaging staff
• Providing secretariat support services and
• Other support services as required.

To be successful in this role you will need strong analytical skills, proven stakeholder liaison experience, and the initiative to drive the Environmental Management System in the department.  Some of the deliverables that you will be the driving force behind will be:

• Development of the Environmental Management Plan, including areas such as Building Management, Office activities, Waste Management and Staff travel (including both travel to work and travel on duty); and
• Certification to comply with the standard ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems.
